Universal Robots - Flexible Automation to Power
Your Production

Deploy safe, reliable collaborative robots in machine tending, palletising, assembly, welding, and inspection, with fast setup and proven performance. Universal Robots are a great addition to the LC Automation portfolio, and complete our Automation Range.

We're pleased to announce that LC Automation can now supply Universal Robots (UR) robots. Most well known as cobots, the latest Machinery Safety Standards do away with that name to specify robots that work in a collaborative application. Universal Robots are widely regarded as the pioneers of the collaborative robotics market, and currently  lead the way with more than 40% of the global cobot market share.

If you've been thinking about your first steps into robotics, or you need a flexible, easy-to-deploy solution alongside your existing automation, these are well worth a look. Best of all, LC Automation can now supply a full range of Automation Solutions from Electrical Actuators and Cartesian Robots, to Cobots, and larger 6-axis Industrial Robots. If you want to know which could suit your specific application, get in touch for some impartial advice.

What Makes Universal Robots Different?

Universal Robots are engineered to work alongside people in collaborative applications, with built-in force/torque sensing and configurable safety functions certified to ISO 10218-1 and ISO 13849-1, dramatically reducing installation footprint and cost compared to traditional industrial robots.

Anyone can programme them. An intuitive touchscreen tablet interface lets operators programme the cobot by physically moving the arm to desired positions. No specialist robotics knowledge needed.

Genuine flexibility. Lightweight and quick to redeploy, UR cobots can move between production lines and switch tasks with ease, a real advantage for mixed or seasonal production.

A Great Investment. UR cobots often achieve payback within 6–12 months (when properly deployed).

Where Are Universal Robots Being Used?

UR cobots are deployed across food & beverage, automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals and packaging, essentially anywhere there are repetitive, physically demanding or precision tasks. Real-world examples include Danish Crown, who used UR10e cobots for palletising and cut employee physical strain by half while improving OEE by 19%, and Sensata Technologies, who switched from traditional industrial robots to the UR3e for autoloading, a good example of cobots replacing legacy automation rather than just manual labour.

Common applications include palletising, machine tending, assembly, pick and place, welding, inspection and CNC loading/unloading.

The Universal Robots Cobot Range

All models share the same intuitive programming platform and safety architecture. They're named by payload capacity:

UR3e: 3 kg payload, 500 mm reach. Compact for tight spaces, light assembly and lab work.
UR5e: 5 kg payload, 850 mm reach. The most popular model,  a genuine all-rounder.
UR10e: 10 kg payload, 1300 mm reach. For heavier tasks and longer reach, eg. palletising, welding.
UR16e: 16 kg payload, 900 mm reach. High payload for CNC tending, metal fabrication and heavy tooling.
UR20: 20 kg payload, 1750 mm reach. The latest generation, built for high-performance palletising.

All e-Series models feature 0.1 mm repeatability, dual encoders and a built-in force/torque sensor at the tool flange as standard.
