The intelligent functions of a Sick deTec4 Safety Light Curtain make your machine design more flexible, more cost-effective and more compact, but it’s innovative new feature could be a real game changer. ‘Smart Box Detection’ can differentiate between humans and materials through object pattern recognition, providing access protection in an automated material flow. Best of all, it doesn’t require any additional devices, which saves you time and money throughout the entire machine life cycle.
What is Smart Box Detection?
Smart Box Detection is a brand-new feature that has been implemented in a firmware update (Version 1.1.0) to the existing deTec4 range. It reliably differentiates between human & material without additional sensors, external signals or teach-in procedures. It uses an internal algorithm to detect rectangular objects & let them pass, saving space and costs compared to other solutions (e.g. a tunnel or conventional muting).
This excellent feature is now standard on every deTec4 (with 14mm resolution) and is configured using the DIP switches on the SP2 plug. The protective field of the deTec4 above the object remains active and ensures a constantly high level of safety.
