Pepperl & Fuchs New 1-D Industrial Radar L2 Sensor with CAN Interface - Here's All You Need To Know!
In difficult applications, Pepperl & Fuchs FMCW radar sensors give you interference free distance and velocity measurement, even in rain, fog, wind or dust. It's a fantastic solution that will meet the highest industrial requirements in your industry...
Radar Technology - Unique in Many Ways
Unlike other sensor technologies, radar waves offer unique advantages:
- They are hardly susceptible to interference.
- They are reflected by all materials to some extent.
- They are able to penetrate most materials to a certain degree.
Pepperl & Fuchs FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar sensors take advantage of these properties to make a solution to meet the highest industrial requirements: Three different measurement modes, long ranges, fast detection speeds, and the ability to detect virtually any target are just some of the advantages of these sensors.
With a choice of connection options and a CAN interface, the FMCW is easy to integrate into your application, so you don't waste time setting it up. This means that a huge variety of demanding applications can be solved with just this one type of sensor - what more could you ask for.
Easy to Integrate
The value of any automation equipment falls if its integrability isn't good, but Pepperl & Fuchs always take this into account! Their FMCW radar sensors offer a solution that will excite you and your operation as soon as it is integrated, which won't take long. From the design structure and electrical connection to signal transmission, parameterisation and functional safety - they really have considered it all.
FMCW sensors from Pepperl & Fuchs are designed using the proven VariKont-L2 design, saving you space and giving additional freedom. A rotatable, swivelling sensor head makes it easy to align and the robust metal mounting with two screw connections prevents problems caused by harsh conditions and machine vibrations.
Measurement Modes
Depending on your application, the industrial FMCW radar sensors from Pepperl & Fuchs can be operated in three different measurement modes.
- Closest Distance: In closest distance mode, the object closest to the sensor is detected regardless of the material. This mode is ideal for collision avoidance (mobile construction machinery, for example) as any objects that are within the extension range are reliably detected.
- Best Reflection: in best reflection mode, the sensor detects the object with the best reflection properties. Interfering objects can simply be ignored, even if they are directly between the sensor and the target object. For example, it is possible to 'see through' the outer skin of a tank to detect the fill level inside!
- Fastest Velocity: In fastest velocity mode, the radar sensor detects the object that is moving the fastest towards or away from the sensor. This measurement mode effectively supports the monitoring of an AGV's track, for example.
